Whats happened to Trade Me?
In Trade Mes case - the British firm Apax Partners, snapped it up for $2.6 billion. The deal was completed after being approved by shareholders, the court, and the overseas investment office. So now, Trade Me has been removed from the New Zealand and Australian sharemarkets.
Is Trade Me NZ owned?
Trade Me is New Zealands largest online auction and classifieds website. Managed by Trade Me Ltd., the site was founded in 1999 by New Zealand entrepreneur Sam Morgan, who sold it to Fairfax in 2006 for NZ$700 million. In May 2019, Trade Me was acquired by private equity firm Apax Partners for NZ$2.56 billion.
