Question: What age should I start dating?

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, kids start dating at an average age of 12 and a half for girls and 13 and a half for boys. Every teen — or preteen — is different, though, and your child might be ready sooner or later than their peers.

Is 2 years too big of an age gap?

Only if youre in your teens where one or both parties are still a minor or below the age of consent, and even just a couple of years can be a very large difference in development. Two years is pretty much the same age for all intents and purposes. You may be in slightly different places in life if youre still young.
