Question: Can Sikh wash their hair?

In Sikhism, kesh (sometimes kes) is the practice of allowing ones hair to grow naturally out of respect for the perfection of Gods creation. This includes regular maintenance of hair which includes but is not limited to combing at least twice daily, washing regularly and not allowing for public touching.

Do Sikhs wash themselves?

Ablution and washing Washing the hands before eating and washing after toileting are also common practice in the culture of the Punjab. In the West Sikhs generally use toilet paper after using the toilet.

Do Sikhs shower with turban on?

Nope. Sikhs are supposed to keep their heads covered when in public. Accordingly, I dont wear mine when I sleep and not in the shower, especially since its not waterproof. Actually, flowing water can be fatal to a tied turban.

Does Sikh smoke?

Marijuana and tobacco are not accepted within the Sikh community as a whole and are strictly prohibited for baptized Amritdhari Sikhs.
